Meeting   DAY TRIPS 2018

Thursday 19th April - Terracotta Warriors Exhibition
The exhibition is staged in the World Museum in Liverpool, we will go directly there, we have a timed entry for the exhibition
which includes a selection of warriors and artefacts found in the tomb of China's First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang.
The museum and nearby Walker Art Gallery have places for refreshments.
We will depart Bulkeley Road, Poynton at 9.30am and Depart Liverpool 4.00pm

Wednesday 16th May - Bronte Parsonage & National Trust East Riddlesden Hall
Before reaching the Bronte Parsonage we will make a stop to purchase refreshments.
We will be having a guided tour when we are at The Bronte Parsonage (home to the famous Bronte Sisters).
We then go on to East Riddlesden Hall (part of the National Trust). East Riddlesden Hall is a 400 year old former agricultural estate with a fascinating history.
There will be time to visit the house, gardens and cafe.
We will depart Bulkeley Road, Poynton 9.30am and Depart Norton Priory between 3.30/4.00pm

Thursday 12th July – Nantwich and Weston Park
We will calling at the pretty market town of Nantwich. Nantwich is home to some lovely black & white timbered buildings,
there are also many places to find refreshments.
We will then travel to the beautiful Weston Park in Shropshire where we will have a guided tour of the house. Weston Park houses some stunning Art work, Tapestries and Chippendale furniture, it also has extensive Capability Brown landscape gardens.
Weston Park was the seat of the Earls of Bradford from the 17th Century, it has now been gifted to the Nation.
There is also an art gallery, restaurant and café.

September, October & November trips - Booking from 1st July

Wednesday 12th September - British Ironwork Centre, Shrewsbury & Boat Trip
At the British Ironwork Centre in Oswestry you can meander around the parkland and view displays by talented artists from the UK and across the globe.
You will also be able to see the famous Knife Angel.
There is a café on site.
We will then go on to the market town of Shrewsbury. Often referred to as the town of flowers. Shrewsbury has a medieval maze of alleyways, timber framed buildings and beautiful shops. You will also be able to visit Shrewsbury Castle & Military Museum and Quarry Park which features The Dingle.
This will then be followed at 3.00 pm with a boat trip down the River Severn on the Sabrina with tea/coffee & biscuits.
Depart Bulkeley Road, Poynton 9.30am and Depart Shrewsbury 4.00pm

Thursday 18th October – Marks & Spencer Archive & Thackray Medical Museum
We will be visiting the Marks & Spencer Archive in Leeds where you can see displays of merchandise and documents going back over the 130 year history of the company.
We will also have a talk on the history of fashions at Marks & Spencer, along with coffee/tea & biscuits.
We then travel to the Thackray Medical Museum housed in the old Leeds Union Workhouse.
Here you will be able to travel back in time to the grimy streets of Leeds of 1842 and view the fascinating galleries.
We will also have a talk by `The Old Apothecary` giving an insight into the old remedies, before the introduction of pain relief!
Depart Bulkeley Road, Poynton 9.30am and Depart Leeds between 4.00/4.30pm
£20.00 per person

Tuesday 27th November - Dewlay Cheeses Makers & Lunch at Houghton Tower.
We will visit Dewlay Cheeses for a tour of the process of cheese making. You will also be able to have a tasting, followed by tea/coffee.
You will also be able to visit their museum and shop. We will then go on to the magnificent Houghton Tower which was built in 1509. The original house was built in 1109 by the de Houghton family.
Houghton Tower is a Baronial Hall built 650 feet above sea level, from here you can view Lancashire's countryside.
Houghton Tower has had many visitors over the years including William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and JMW Turner.
It also has a fabulous collection of Dolls Houses.
Lunch and a guided tour are included.
Depart Bulkeley Road 9.30am and Depart Houghton Tower between 3.30/4.00pm
£25.00 per person

Additional charges for Non NT members will be collected on the day of the trip.
In the event of cancellation, if your place can be resold or if the cancellation is made 3 weeks before the trip date monies will be held for you against a future booking.
It is your responsibility to be on the coach, ready for departure at the stated times.
For visits to National Trust properties please remember your current NT membership card.
